As an English major at VSU, you will develop valuable and diverse skills which are always in demand and valued by employers. These include effective communication, creative thinking, problem solving, and the ability to clearly and persuasively present ideas.

English majors can find good-paying careers in many fields, including the media, marketing, program management, social work, medicine, law and others. Here are just a few of the job titles you might hold with a degree in English:

You may earn a teaching endorsement in combination with your English degree at VSU, which along with state licensure, allows you to teach at the secondary level.

Many English majors choose to earn advanced degrees in other fields such as law, political sciene and history, or you may choose to pursue a Master of Arts degree in English right here at Virginia State.

Majors in any of VSU's undergraduate programs are also welcome to declare a Minor in English, which requires only 18 credit hours.
