Languages and Literature

Welcome to the Department of Languages and Literature. We are a close-knit family and our students receive special attention. Regardless of your major or minor program, you will engage in vibrant classes of 10 to 25 students, and develop working relationships with our faculty.

We offer a wide range of courses in the fields of English, English education, foreign languages, writing, drama and speech. The Department also is pleased to offer all VSU students the use of its foreign language laboratory, located in Room B-1 of Colson Hall. Other special facilities include an electronic classroom and an adaptable blackbox theater space.

We offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with 7 possible concentrations, including a Minor in Secondary Education for those interested in teaching.

Students may also minor in English, Africana Studies, Film Studies in Literature, drama, writing, Spanish, and French.
